Hydration and Why is it so Important for your Physical & Emotional Wellbeing?
• The brain is approx. 85% water when fully hydrated.
• Dehydration is a major producer of stress in the body.
• Water is vital to energy production in the cells, metabolism and neurotransmission, and the conduction of energy through meridians.
• Neurotransmission -( the communication of nerve impulses from cell to cell ) is heavily dependant on water, and when the body is dehydrated, nerve transmission is compromised and brain function is diminished
• Emotions are synthesised and harmonised by water, so dehydration can be a precursor to emotional and mental disorders.
• In a dehydrated cell, metabolism is greatly impaired – this affects the entire body – particularly sugar metabolism, the immune system and detoxification.
• Transmission of nutrients through the cell wall is conducted by water, so dehydrated people are often malnourished despite excellent diets.
• Dehydration is a significant producer of free radicals. A fully hydrated body may reduce the need for antioxidant supplements due to the faster removal of free radicals.
• Lung dehydration is considered a significant factor in respiratory diseases.
• Hyperactive children are often dehydrated and tend to only want to drink juices, softdrink and other caffeine and sugar laden drinks
• Coffee, tea and some softdrinks contain caffeine which is a dehydrating agent that increases the function of the kidneys to expel water
• The lymph system removes toxins from the tissues of the body.
• Dehydration affects the movement of lymph causing it to ‘clog up’
What can you do to ensure hydration of the bodymind?
• drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of pure, clean water
• limit caffeine containing drinks and alcohol
• have a BodyTalk ‘check up’ to see if dehydration is a problem
• Dehydration may come up as a priority despite drinking plenty of water - the general balancing of the hydration technique is directed at correcting the imbalances throughout the body and also in specific areas e.g. the brain, a specific organ such as the liver or a specific joint such as the knee
• Many people notice changes in their skin as rehydration creates a more youthful appearance
• A series of BodyTalk sessions can correct many imbalances and dehydration plays a role in many of today’s health problems. All this from a relaxing session and some tapping of the head and sternum!
• NOTE -Drink small sips of water rather than huge gulps of water. This is more effective for the body to take in the water to the cells.
